Youth Suicide Research among Understudied Groups around the Globe: Insights, Directions, and Opportunities
The Youth Suicide Research Consortium Fifth Annual Conference invites researchers, public health officials, and clinicians working to prevent and treat youth suicidal behaviors around the globe to discuss projects, address challenges, exchange ideas, and imagine collaborations in a post-COVID-pandemic scenario.
The Conference will start with international perspectives on youth suicide research, particularly outside of the United States. We will highlight youth suicide research initiatives across the globe, and facilitate potential collaborations between researchers in low-, middle-, and high-income settings to address research and practice challenges.
Brief and concurrent presentations will focus on prevention and treatment to combat youth suicidal behaviors and death around the globe.
Invited panelists will discuss suicide research for (a) those who have experienced displacement, and (b) indigenous youth, exploring the epistemological tensions between the demand for generalizability and the need to attend to cultural, communal, and individual factors. Panelists will discuss methodological strategies to help navigate these tensions, and insights about processes that discriminate between context-specific and universal dimensions of youth suicide research.
In line with previous YSRC Conferences, the 2024 events will be FREE for presenters and attendees. Panels and brief presentations will be recorded to accommodate time differences around the globe.
