For decades, scholarship on understanding and addressing racial and ethnic disparities in suicide research has been ignored, dismissed, or underfunded by funders, and rejected by publishers. In recent years, groups like the Youth Suicide Research Consortium and its members have drawn attention to these disparities through editorials and online conferences. This webinar is the first to explicitly address the ways that scholars of color have navigated the barriers to grant funding and publication on race/ethnicity research that exists in the suicide field. By the end of the webinar, participants will be able to discuss and respond to objections and concerns raised by grant funders and journal reviewers related to scholarship on race and ethnicity. This webinar will discuss a range of topics related to addressing racial/ethnic identity in publications and grants.
